What Akafuku is known for
Akafuku has sold its mochi rice cake topped with sweet bean paste since 1707, its ridged white surface designed to evoke the Isuzu River flowing past Ise Grand Shrine. The main shop still stands along the Okage Yokocho approach to the shrine's inner sanctum, where it has served pilgrims for more than three centuries.
