The Alkhayat family has hand-set mother-of-pearl and camel bone into walnut furniture in their Damascus workshop since the 1930s, cutting and fitting each shell fragment by hand. Alongside new commissions they deal in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Syrian antique pieces, with a showroom at the Pasadena Antique & Design Center in California.
