What Arctic Trading Company is known for
Founded in the 1980s by Penny and Keith Rawlings on the Hudson Bay shore, this workshop-store sews native-made mukluks, moose-hide slippers, mitts and gauntlets and stocks furs alongside First Nations artwork gathered from across Canada. Its development loan was structured around Churchill's short tourist season, a measure of how completely the shop runs on the town's polar-bear and beluga calendar.
