What Artisan Roast is known for
Artisan Roast is an Edinburgh specialty coffee roastery supplying cafés and restaurants across Scotland since 2007. It runs four cafés plus a dedicated roastery and testing lab.
Artisan Roast has been roasting and supplying specialty coffee in Edinburgh since 2007, and by its own account has grown from independent roaster into a small local network: four cafés — on Broughton Street, Leith Walk, Bruntsfield Place, and in Stockbridge — plus a dedicated roastery, a testing space it calls The Lab, and a pop-up café inside the St James Quarter shopping centre.
The shop's single-origin list changes with the season and reads like a shipping manifest: washed and natural lots from La Guaca and La Virgen in Colombia, Banko Gotiti in Ethiopia, Rancho São Benedito and Sitio São Francisco in Brazil, La Carolina in Ecuador, El Palto in Peru, and Bosques de San Francisco in Guatemala were all in rotation at time of research, priced roughly £11 to £14 for a 250g bag. Alongside beans, Artisan Roast sells brewing equipment — V60s, Aeropresses, the Sage Bambino and XBloom home espresso machines — and runs subscriptions built around its year-round blends, Janszoon, Trigonometry, and Cobblestone.
The company describes itself as a supplier to "top cafés and restaurants throughout Scotland," a wholesale side that runs alongside the retail cafés and online shop.
