Agata Tomaselli makes Ater Ceramica's stoneware in Florianopolis, Brazil, working from a studio near Armacao do Pantano do Sul where finished pieces are also available for local pickup. Every piece is wood-fired, a process the studio describes as leaving clay 'marked by body, movement and heat' - the flame path and handling of each piece show in the finished surface rather than being smoothed away. Named pieces like the Vaso Nevoeiro and Copo Nebula anchor a wider Colecao Fogo e Afeto, or Fire and Affection Collection, spanning vases, bowls, mugs, and cups for daily use rather than display alone. Because each piece comes out of the kiln individually shaped by the wood-firing process, the studio states plainly that no two are identical - a damaged piece can't be replaced with an exact match, only exchanged for another work of equivalent value. Ater ships nationally through Correios, Brazil's postal service, generally within six business days of payment, alongside the local pickup option around the island.
