What Bakery. Samarkand bread and samsa is known for
Inside the Eternal City quarter of the Silk Road Samarkand resort complex, this bakery -- branded Tandoor on-site -- bakes traditional Samarkand non bread and samsa in wood-fired clay ovens. It's open daily from 8am to 8pm, using the oven method central to Uzbek baking tradition.
The bakery sits inside Eternal City, an 11-hectare pedestrian quarter built as part of the wider Silk Road Samarkand resort complex, which opened in September 2022 as a purpose-built tourism and conference development outside the historic center of Samarkand. Eternal City was designed to recreate, in miniature, the traditional architecture and atmosphere of several of Uzbekistan's historic regions at once -- its internal streets carry the names of Bukhara, Fergana, Tashkent, Khwarezm, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya, along with the autonomous republic of Karakalpakstan, with the quarter's central thoroughfare named simply Samarkand. Within this reconstructed streetscape, the bakery -- branded on-site as Tandoor -- bakes its non bread and samsa in tandoor ovens built specifically for Eternal City in the resort's own workshop, rather than off-the-shelf equipment, following the wood-fired methods long associated with Samarkand baking. The bakery keeps the same daily hours as its neighboring cafes and restaurants within the quarter, open from 8am to 8pm.
