Caffè Vergnano's own site dates the company to 1882 and frames it as a family business now in its fourth generation, still headquartered in Piedmont. The company describes its method as slow, traditional roasting — 'una tostatura lenta e tradizionale' — applied to carefully selected raw materials rather than a fast industrial cycle, and positions quality as non-negotiable: 'Qualità senza compromessi.' From that Turin base, Vergnano has expanded into more than ninety countries and operates upward of two hundred branded cafés worldwide, an unusually large retail footprint for a roaster whose identity still leans on nineteenth-century Torinese tradition. The brand also runs Women in Coffee, a social-sustainability program launched in 2018 that supports women in coffee-growing regions — a rare instance of an Italian heritage roaster attaching itself formally to origin-side development work rather than only marketing its blends.
