What Chocolate Andino is known for
Chocolate Andino has made table chocolate, bars and cocoa nibs from Colombian cacao since 1931, working from the same Carrera 21 workshop in Bogotá. It sells its chocolate and roasted coffee direct to the city and by delivery across Colombia.
Chocolates Andino has worked from the same Carrera 21 address in Bogota since 1931 by the company's own account, though its formal registration as Fabrica de Chocolates Andino dates to 1946. Nearly a century on, it still makes Colombian table chocolate -- the thick drinking-chocolate disks used for hot chocolate -- alongside chocolatinas, cocoa nibs, chocolate coatings for other confections, and cakes, plus sugar-free, low-fat, and flavored variants aimed at a wider market than the traditional block. The company leans hard into that longevity as its identity, marketing itself as "el autentico, el de siempre, el real" -- the authentic one, the one that's always been there, the real one -- against newer entrants making similar claims without the decades behind them. Beyond chocolate, the workshop also sells roasted coffee, extending the same from-source approach to a second Colombian crop. Everything moves out of the same Carrera 21 workshop it's always run from, sold direct to walk-in customers and delivered across Bogota and, by request, the rest of Colombia -- a small manufacturer that never left its original neighborhood even as Colombian chocolate brands around it consolidated into larger national companies.
