Elyssa Concept Store treats Tunisian craft retail as installation rather than shelving. Founder Cyrine Cherif, an interior architect and decorator, built the idea nearly a decade ago after visiting the medina of Tangier, where she found a single space mixing Moroccan, Jordanian, and Lebanese objects under one roof. She adapted the concept for Tunis, reconstructing entire rooms of a house inside the store: a bathroom, a living room, a gourmet corner, a kitchen, even a child's bedroom, each dressed with handmade Tunisian pieces so visitors can picture the objects in their own homes before buying. The range spans clothing, leather goods, furniture, decorative objects, and wood or copper tableware. Cherif sources by traveling to different regions of Tunisia to meet artisans directly and scout local raw materials, favoring linen and wood worked by hand. Some pieces are designed in-house; others come from a roster of Tunisian makers she selects herself. The result draws on Tunisia's layered design history, Turkish, Andalusian, and Carthaginian influences, visible in mosaics, ceramics, and woodwork reworked into contemporary forms. It's a concept-store model built specifically around craft traceability: every object is tied to a maker or region rather than an anonymous supply chain, which is the point Cherif keeps returning to when she talks about why the store exists.
