What Escentric Molecules is known for
Niche fragrance house founded 2006 by perfumer Geza Schoen around Molecule 01, a single-note scent built on the synthetic aroma-chemical Iso E Super rather than a natural composition.
Escentric Molecules was founded in 2006 by perfumer Geza Schoen, who built the brand around a deliberately unconventional idea: fragrances composed around a single synthetic aroma-chemical rather than blended accords of natural ingredients. The debut scent, Molecule 01, is built almost entirely on Iso E Super, a molecule more commonly used as a background note in other perfumes; Schoen has described the concept as growing out of noticing how people reacted to the raw chemical worn undiluted. The launch coincided with, and helped define, a wave of independent niche-perfume houses in the mid-2000s alongside names like Byredo and By Kilian. The brand has since expanded into an 'M' collection and other Escentric-numbered fragrances, still emphasizing single hero molecules over conventional perfumery structure.
