What Fabriano is known for
Paper since 1264 — the Marche mill that taught Europe watermarks, still making artist paper and notebooks. Official + inItaly: a 1264 notarial deed now at Matelica records purchase of notebooks of Fabriano paper. Official history dates Fabriano watermarks to 1293 (inspired by wool-makers' marks).
