Johann Maria Farina distilled the first Eau de Cologne here in 1709, and eight generations of the Farina family have kept making it to the same guarded recipe of bergamot, lemon and neroli. Guided tours of the fragrance museum trace the perfume's court history, and an atelier workshop lets visitors blend and bottle their own 50 ml flacon.
