Hanoia

Hanoia traces its origin to 1997, when a workshop was set up in Binh Duong province, near Saigon, in a district with a lacquer-craft history reaching back to the fourteenth century. The founding group began with a small handful of artisans learning and applying traditional Vietnamese lacquer techniques, before the Hanoia brand itself was formally built around that workshop roughly two decades later.

The company has since grown into a larger operation headquartered in Hanoi, with production split between workshops in Hanoi and Binh Duong employing around 300 craftspeople in total. Its catalogue spans decorative lacquer boxes in round, square and rectangular forms, vases, serving trays, and an expanding line of lacquered home furnishings, alongside fashion accessories and jewelry that apply the same lacquer surface techniques to non-tableware objects.

Hanoia positions its output as a collaboration between international designers and Vietnamese artisans working in the inherited techniques of the country's traditional lacquer villages, releasing named collections on a seasonal cycle rather than a single static product line.
