What Jaipur Watch Company is known for

An Indian watch microbrand selling watches inspired by historic coins, miniature painting, Pichwai art, and Raja Ravi Varma prints. The company appeared on Shark Tank India.

Jaipur Watch Company was founded in 2013 by Gaurav Mehta and describes itself as India's first micro-luxury watch brand, built around limited-edition, handcrafted pieces that draw on regional visual traditions rather than conventional Swiss watchmaking references. Its designs have taken inspiration from historic Indian coinage, Rajasthani miniature painting, the Pichwai devotional art of Nathdwara, and the mythological and courtly imagery of painter Raja Ravi Varma, translating these motifs into dial work and case detailing. The brand splits its output between a ready-to-wear ('Pret') line and fully bespoke commissions, with Pret pieces accounting for roughly four-fifths of sales in the 2021-22 financial year, when the company recorded about Rs 1.07 crore in revenue. Mehta brought the brand to a national television audience in January 2023 on the second season of Shark Tank India, seeking Rs 50 lakh for a 2% equity stake; no investor closed a deal, but the appearance raised the brand's profile considerably. The company operates from a first-floor showroom on Subhash Marg in Jaipur's C-Scheme district, near Bagadiya Bhawan, continuing to position bespoke watchmaking as a craft tradition rooted in the city's history of jewelry and gem work.
