Kjus

Switzerland

What Kjus is known for

Technical ski-and-golf apparel brand founded in 1999 by Norwegian Olympic skier Lasse Kjus, launched in 2000 with the industry's first stretch ski jacket; Kjus sold the company to Swiss firm LK International in 2012, which now owns and runs it.

Kjus was founded by Lasse Kjus, one of the most decorated alpine skiers in history. Frustrated by the limits of existing ski gear, Kjus set out to build technical apparel merging function with new textile technology. Working with a small team out of an old train station in Oslo, he introduced KJUS in 1999 and launched it globally in 2000 with the industry's first stretch ski jacket. After retiring from competition, Kjus became a businessman and, in 2012, sold the rights to his eponymous brand to the Swiss company LK International for 56 million Norwegian kroner. Under Swiss ownership the brand has since expanded from ski-specific outerwear into golf apparel.
