What Kormákur & Skjöldur is known for
Reykjavík men's outfitters founded 1996, launching their own label in 2010 with tailored British-inspired tweeds, oil-cloth jackets, and Icelandic design.
Kormákur & Skjöldur began in 1996 when two friends—Kormákur Geirharðson, a drummer, and Skjöldur Sigurjónsson, a chef—opened a menswear shop in the basement of Laugavegur 59, downtown Reykjavík. The store built its reputation stocking quality brands including Barbour, Filson, and Walker Slater alongside in-house selections. In 2010, after establishing themselves as a retail institution, they launched their own clothing line in collaboration with fashion designer Guðmundur Jörundsson. The K&S label is known for reimagining traditional tailoring with a twisted contemporary vision, offering old-fashioned tweeds, hats, oil-cloth jackets, and British gentlemen's wear. Many pieces are designed in-house. The brand has become one of Iceland's most established fashion labels, representing a bridge between Icelandic heritage craftsmanship and international menswear traditions.
