LALI

LALI is built around a single designer, Lali Fazylova, who studied fashion design and construction at the Institute of Textile and Light Industry in Tashkent before gaining practical experience working in fashion houses in Vilnius and Almaty. She started her own atelier in Tashkent in the mid-1990s; by 2007, that atelier had grown into a full fashion house operating under her name. Since 1996 her design language has centered on reworking Central Asian textile and craft traditions, ikat weaving, embroidery, and other regional techniques, into contemporary silhouettes rather than presenting them as costume or purely traditional dress. The brand states its mission as supporting and reviving Uzbekistan's craft and textile heritage, with an emphasis on sustainable production methods, and LALI has shown couture collections at Visa Fashion Week Tashkent as that event has grown into a platform for Uzbek designers along the historical Silk Road trade routes.
