The boutique at Le Jardin des Biehn sits inside a riad the Biehn family opened in 2010, in the former summer palace of Pacha El Mokri in the heart of Fez's medina. Michel Biehn, originally from Provence, and his daughter Jeanne built the shop's inventory the same way they built the riad's interiors — through years of travel across Morocco and beyond.
The shelves hold pottery from Tamegroute, in Morocco's south, alongside carpets woven in the Atlas mountains and basketry from the Rif region. Traditional Moroccan costumes and rare, older textiles sit next to contemporary pieces designed in-house and produced by local craftsmen. Michel and Jeanne's travels reached further afield too, into other parts of Africa, India, Persia, and the Far East, and those journeys show up in the boutique's mix of objects.
The shop is one stop on a broader visit — Fez is, as the riad's own site puts it, the historic capital of Moroccan craftsmanship — but it distills that heritage into a single curated room a few steps from the riad's Andalusian garden and hammam. It remains a family operation: sophrology sessions on-site are led by Catherine Biehn, and the riad's restaurant, Fez Café, is run separately by chef Hicham Moufid.
