Librairie Jousseaume occupies two shopfronts facing each other inside the Galerie Vivienne, the neoclassical covered passage in Paris's 2nd arrondissement that opened in 1826. The bookshop was one of the gallery's original tenants, first trading under the name Librairie Petit-Siroux. In 1890 the business passed to an ancestor of the current proprietor, Francois Jousseaume, whose family has run it since and whose name it has carried ever since. Now among the oldest continuously operating bookshops in Paris, it deals largely in secondhand and antiquarian material: books dating back to the 19th century, prints, engravings, postcards and paperbacks.
