Maverick and Farmer

Bengaluru (roastery)

What Maverick and Farmer is known for

Maverick and Farmer roasts daily in Bengaluru from beans grown on its own 140-acre Coorg estate, milling and packing coffee only to order. Its lineup spans a house blend to India's first artisanal mushroom coffee.

Maverick and Farmer runs a genuine farm-to-cup model out of a 140-acre estate in Pollibetta, Coorg, harvesting Arabica and Robusta through the November-to-February season and roasting the results daily back in Bengaluru rather than shipping green beans out to a separate roasting facility. Beans and ground coffee are milled and packed only after an order comes in, a freshness claim built into the fulfillment process rather than just printed on the bag. The founding team isn't new to Indian specialty coffee: before this brand, the same group founded The Flying Squirrel Coffee in 2012, described on the site as India's first artisan coffee brand, giving Maverick and Farmer's "farm to cup" claim more than a decade of prior roasting experience behind it. The house lineup includes Parama as the standing classic blend and Tall Dark Handsome for a darker roast profile, alongside more experimental releases — notably what the company calls India's first artisanal mushroom coffee, a genuinely unusual product rather than a standard single-origin variation. Marketed under a "fourth wave of coffee" banner, the combination of estate ownership, made-to-order roasting and an experimental product line separates Maverick and Farmer from roasters that simply buy in green beans and roast to a house profile.
