Portuguese fashion house founded in 1988 by designer Miguel Vieira (b. 1966, Sao Joao da Madeira). Womenswear came first, with a menswear line following in 1989 and a leather goods and bag collection launched in 1996; collections have shown in Paris, Milan and other fashion capitals.
Miguel Vieira, born in 1966 in Sao Joao da Madeira, studied art, design and textile quality control at Porto's Superior Engineering Institute before launching his eponymous fashion label in 1988. The brand began with women's clothing, leading to a men's collection the following year. In 1996, the house launched a leather goods and bags line; over time the name has also been registered across jewelry, shoes, eyewear, furniture and children's clothing. His collections have been shown in Paris, London, Milan, Madrid, Athens, Istanbul, New York and Tokyo. He has received Portugal's Golden Globe fashion award and was made a Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique in January 2006.
