Nobrand

Nobrand was founded in Porto in 1988 by Sergio Cunha and Francisco Lusquiños. The label makes handmade footwear, focused mainly on men's shoes, boots and sneakers, with a smaller women's range. Rather than following each season's trends, the brand describes its approach as continually reworking established shoe silhouettes — treating classic forms like derbies, boots and sneakers as material to keep reinventing through changes in construction, materials and finish. Portuguese trade press, including World Footwear, has profiled Nobrand as part of Portugal's broader footwear-manufacturing sector, where many brands built their own labels on top of production expertise developed making shoes for other companies. The brand's own site frames this philosophy directly: it is 'not about catching up with fashion trends,' but about setting a pace other brands then follow. Over more than three decades, Nobrand has remained a Portuguese-made line, keeping production inside the country's shoemaking industry rather than moving manufacturing offshore, at a time when much of the footwear sold under better-known international logos already relies on production networks based in Portugal.
