What Riverside Coffee is known for
A fifth-generation Coorg estate that has processed its own coffee, from cherry to roasted bean, on one lakeside property since 1898. Four lakeview cottages and an on-site café let visitors stay where the coffee is grown.
On the shore of a lake in Coorg, Riverside Coffee has kept its harvest within sight of where it grows since 1898, a run now in its fifth generation of the same family. The estate calls itself a family heirloom, and the claim shows in how little the operation delegates: cherries are picked, pulped, fermented, dried and roasted without leaving the property, a closed loop the estate sums up simply as 'coffee doesn't leave our premises.' Both Arabica and Robusta are grown here, worked through washed, natural, and honey processing alongside what the estate calls experimental fermentations — a range that lets the same soil produce distinctly different cups. The estate frames its methods as environmentally sustainable, citing ecological balance alongside its workforce as part of what it protects.
Beyond the processing yard, Riverside doubles as a place to stay: four one-bedroom cottages look out over the lake, and an on-site café runs an all-day menu of burgers, pastas, sandwiches, wraps and pizzas alongside the coffee. It's a rare setup for a producer this size — visitors can watch cherry become roasted bean on the same ground where they're staying the night, rather than encountering the estate only as a bag on a shelf.
