Robert Welch Studio Shop

Lower High Street

What Robert Welch Studio Shop is known for

Robert Welch set up his design studio beside Chipping Campden's Silk Mill in 1955, and the family firm still runs its only studio shop on the town's Lower High Street. Shelves carry its award-winning cutlery, kitchen knives and tableware, backed by more than 70 international design awards.

Robert Welch set up his drawing board in an 18th-century Cotswold-stone building beside Chipping Campden's Silk Mill in 1955, founding what became Robert Welch Designs Ltd. Nearly seven decades on, the company remains family-run and still keeps its only studio shop on the town's Lower High Street.

The firm built its name on stainless-steel cutlery, now produced across three main collections -- a 3.5mm range, a heavier 5.0mm range, and the Master Collection -- and expanded over the decades into kitchen knives, cookware, tabletop accessories and home fittings. That design output has been recognised with more than 70 international awards over the company's history.

The Chipping Campden shop shows the full current range in person: cutlery, kitchen knives and knife storage, cookware from frying pans to casserole pots, and tableware down to candlesticks and salt and pepper sets. Cutlery sets can also be made up to order there.
