What Rolf Ekroth is known for
Helsinki-based designer, a former professional poker player who trained at Aalto University before launching his eponymous label. Part of Finland's Guest Nation showcase at Pitti Uomo in 2018 and a repeat participant since, including a Bio2-Textile capsule for SS22.
Rolf Ekroth had an unconventional path into fashion: he studied social work and worked as a professional poker player before, in his late twenties, enrolling in sewing classes and later being accepted into Finland's Aalto University, where he studied under Tuomas Laitinen. He was a finalist at the Festival de Hyeres in 2016. Ekroth was selected as one of eight designers representing Finland's 'Guest Nation' presentation at Pitti Uomo in Florence in 2018, and has continued to show there in subsequent seasons, including a spring/summer 2022 collection made with Bio2Textile, an eco-material developed from agricultural straw residue. He operates out of his own atelier in Helsinki.
