What Ruinart is known for
Ruinart, the oldest established champagne house, was founded in Reims in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart and shipped its first bottles the following January. Known for Chardonnay-led blanc de blancs, it ages its wines in Gallo-Roman chalk crayères more than 30 metres beneath the city — cellars classed as a Historic Monument since 1931.
Best for — Blanc de Blancs, elegant gifting, and celebration bottles.
