Sapporo Ainu Cultural PR Corner

This is a municipal program run by the City of Sapporo to support the Ainu cultural-industry economy, not an independent artisan's shop. The city established a permanent Ainu Cultural PR Corner in the underground passage near Odori Station, where a contracted operator runs the retail shop known as PORSE. Rather than artisans selling their own work directly, participating makers consign pieces to PORSE and receive 70% of the sale price, with 30% going toward the shop's operating costs. Eligibility to participate is restricted: artisans must live in Sapporo or maintain their workshop there, and must hold certification from the Hokkaido Ainu Association, have completed a government-run craft training program, or have previously taken part in a city-sponsored Ainu cultural initiative.
