What Sunita Shekhawat is known for

Jaipur jewelry house founded in 1996 by Sunita Shekhawat, specializing in meenakari enamel work and Kundan-Meena-Jadau techniques. Its flagship, the Shekhawat Haveli on Sardar Patel Marg in C-Scheme, also houses her Museum of Meenakari Heritage, opened in 2024.

Sunita Shekhawat founded her jewelry business informally from her home in Jaipur in 1996, trading initially as Midas Signature Jewellery, launched with her husband Dileep Singh and formally inaugurated by Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Shekhawat had no family background in the jewelry trade; she trained at the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery and began her career with small sales and restoration work before learning meenakari — the Jaipur technique of enamelling on gold — directly from the city's master artisans. She became known as a specialist in reviving meenakari alongside Kundan-Meena-Jadau jewelry, which combines stone-setting with enamel work, and the brand states it is the only Indian luxury jeweler also practising the French enamel techniques of plique-à-jour, champlevé and basse-taille. Her flagship store and gallery, the Shekhawat Haveli at E-141 Sardar Patel Marg in Jaipur's C-Scheme district, was designed by the architecture firm Studio Lotus and combines retail space with a public-facing museum. In March 2024 she opened the Museum of Meenakari Heritage inside the same building, described as India's first institution dedicated to the enamel art form, displaying historic pieces and techniques alongside her own collections.
