What Trunks Company is known for
Jaipur atelier founded 2011 by Paritosh Mehta, producing under 100 handcrafted leather-and-teakwood trunks a year by appointment; a bespoke watch trunk sold at Sotheby's New York in 2025.
Trunks Company was established in Jaipur, India, in 2011 by Paritosh Mehta (now run with his brother Priyank), reviving the craft of steamer-trunk making for a contemporary market. The atelier, on Kartarpura Road in Jaipur's Bais Godam area, works by appointment only and produces no more than 100 trunks a year, each made by hand by a small team of artisans over as long as eight months. Materials are sourced internationally - grain leather and suede, vintage brass hardware, and teakwood - from India, Germany, Italy and France. Rather than travel luggage alone, Trunks Company builds trunks as functional objects: watch and jewelry vaults, bar cabinets, cosmetics cases, book and chess-set trunks, and cigar humidors. In 2025 the company became the first Indian design atelier to have a piece sold at auction by Sotheby's in New York.
