The center is a Seoul public-hanok craft facility at 24-5 Bukchon-ro 12-gil, where visitors can try traditional making rather than only browse finished souvenirs. Current programs include activities such as handkerchief dyeing, hanji accessories and decorative knot work, with offerings rotating by program and season. Its value is practical participation inside Bukchon’s hanok district: visitors handle materials, follow a guided craft process and leave with something made during the session rather than treating the center as another conventional retail stop.
Hyein Seo is a Seoul-based fashion label whose clothing draws on streetwear while exploring more restrained cuts and handmade pieces. Its first physical shop also brought the label's atelier into the same setting, as described in an interview with its designers. The online collection and stockist list offer another way to explore the label before choosing where to shop.
Best for Seoul fashion with streetwear roots and experimental cuts
HYEIN SEO's Seoul flagship is listed by the label at 15-3 Dosan-daero 25-gil in Gangnam-gu. The address matters because the brand also maintains an international stockist network; the Seoul entry is its own flagship rather than one of those wholesale accounts. The official information page names STATELESS as the operator of the HYEIN SEO online business. Its contact channels distinguish general enquiries from customer service and route wholesale or press requests separately. The label's archive supplies a useful view of its design programme, running from FW14 through the SS26 Windward season. Named chapters include FW18 Waste Land and FW20 Transformation, followed later by FW22 Nausicaä, FW23 Horizon and FW25 Midnight Riders. The retail categories cover outerwear and shirts, with a separate place for hoodies plus tops. Dresses sit beside skirts and trousers. Swimwear and bags complete the clothing offer, with accessories in their own category. This long collection record supports reading HYEIN SEO as a Seoul fashion house with a continuing seasonal practice. The flagship is listed separately from BOON THE SHOP, the other Seoul stockist on the official page.

The Store from Tong-In has sold Korean antiques and craft at 32 Insadong-gil in Seoul since 1924. Its 1973 building by Kim Seok-jae is a designated Seoul Future Heritage site. The design echoes a long-necked Gaya and Silla earthenware vessel and keeps the upper floors nearly windowless to protect antique works. Ceramics and lacquerware fill the floors alongside metalwork and hanji paper. Minhwa painting is sold too, and the Tong-In Gallery shares the building.
Best for Korean celadon, lacquerware, metalwork and textiles since 1924
The Store from Tong-In has traded in Insadong since 1924. The present building went up in 1973 to a design by the architect Kim Seok-jae. He was a disciple of Kim Chung-up, one of the founders of modern Korean architecture. Its form takes after the janggyeongho, the long-necked earthenware vessel of the Gaya and Silla periods. It has very few windows above the third floor so that daylight is kept away from the antique works inside. Seoul has designated the building a Future Heritage site. The shop describes its atmosphere as solemn and classical, in keeping with the role of Insadong as the cultural centre of the city. The store is a complex space in which antiquities and modern art coexist with contemporary craft. Its antique floors cover ceramics and old furniture as well as paintings. The craft side ranges across ceramic and metal work. Textiles hang beside lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Hanji paper and woodcraft have their own sections, as does minhwa folk painting. The Tong-In Gallery shows contemporary work in the same building. It sells online as well as from the Insadong building, and enquiries about individual pieces go through the inquiry form of the store. It remains one of the older addresses on a street now lined with galleries and craft shops, and the building itself is part of what visitors come to see.
