Aclima

Aclima's history begins in 1939 in Drammen, Norway, where Eivind Johansen had the idea to make shoe insoles from wool felt discarded by textile factories along the local river, starting production with his wife Elsa under the name Tuna Tekstil AS. After the Second World War, Johansen purchased his first knitting machine and expanded into wool jumpers and ski suits. The company operated under the Tuna Tekstil name for decades before rebranding as Aclima in 1998, shifting its focus toward technical Merino wool clothing for outdoor sport. Today Aclima sources Merino wool from Marlborough, New Zealand, and manufactures at its own production facility in Estonia, while remaining headquartered in Norway.
