Acqua di Stresa was founded in 2002 in the lakeside town of Stresa, on Lake Maggiore in northern Italy's Piedmont region, by Giovanni Castelli, a former fashion stylist who moved into perfumery, and Andrea Patrucco. The pair built the brand around a shared attachment to Lake Maggiore and, specifically, the gardens of Castello di Ripa, a historic residence on the lakeshore facing the Borromean Islands. Its fragrances draw on plants and flowers native to the Lago Maggiore area - lemon, olive, laurel, camellia, azalea, rhododendron, magnolia.
