Aeyde was founded in Berlin in 2015 by Luisa Dames and Constantin Langholz-Baikousis, who named the label after Langholz-Baikousis's grandmother, Edith -- a private reference folded into a brand built on understatement rather than logos. Dames, who leads design and brand identity, describes the goal as building 'a strong character within a simple design': Chelsea boots, loafers and ankle boots rendered in clean, uncomplicated silhouettes rather than the maximalism common to contemporary luxury footwear. Every pair is made in a family-run factory in Italy's Marche region, a shoemaking district long relied on by larger houses, with hand-sewn construction and leather sourced from the EU -- predominantly Italy -- using hides that are a byproduct of the food industry and finished without the toxic tanning agents common to cheaper production. The founders describe their approach as prioritizing 'sustainable satisfaction over quick turnover,' keeping production runs deliberately small rather than chasing volume. Langholz-Baikousis runs operations, logistics and finance, a split that let the brand grow from footwear into a full accessories house, adding its first jewelry collection in 2018. Aeyde marked its tenth anniversary by opening Aeyde Haus, a Berlin headquarters combining offices, a showroom, an atelier housing the brand's design archive, a café and a research library for staff and collaborators.
