Altitude Sports began in 1984 as a bricks-and-mortar shop on Montreal's St-Denis Street, selling and renting outdoor equipment and clothing. In 1999 the company launched Altitude-sports.com, one of the first dedicated online outdoor retail sites in Canada. The retailer later added TheLastHunt.com, a site devoted entirely to discounted technical clothing and gear, giving the group both a full-price and a clearance channel under common ownership. Altitude Sports has positioned itself at the intersection of fashion and outdoor performance wear. Trade coverage noted explosive growth in 2020, as pandemic-driven demand for outdoor gear and remote shopping habits pushed sales sharply upward. The company remains headquartered in Montreal.
