What Artazart is known for
Image-focused bookshop and gallery at 83 Quai de Valmy on the Canal Saint-Martin, opened in July 2000 by Carl Huguenin, Jerome Fournel and Serge Bensimon as Paris's first concept-store dedicated to photography, design and illustration.
Artazart opened in July 2000 at 83 Quai de Valmy, a small standalone building on the Canal Saint-Martin in Paris's 10th arrondissement, founded by Carl Huguenin and Jerome Fournel together with Serge Bensimon. It positioned itself as a bookshop-gallery hybrid, specializing in imported and hard-to-find titles on photography, graphic design and illustration, alongside self-published zines and international magazines. Over its first 25 years it became one of the identifying landmarks of the canal, known for storefront collaborations with artists such as street artist Miss.Tic.
