What Les Mini Mondes is known for

Nantes-based children's brand founded in 2019 by Marine Bocabeille and Quentin Ory, who started out making toys from recycled plastic before pivoting to educational, non-gendered children's magazines and toys manufactured in France.

Les Mini Mondes was founded in 2019 by Marine Bocabeille and Quentin Ory, who met that year and shared a wish to create toys made in France from recycled materials. The pair began within the startup studio Imagination Machine, initially building a line of toys made from recycled plastic paired with an accompanying storybook. As they developed the concept, the founders shifted focus toward publishing: parents they spoke with wanted more thoughtful stories for their children, ones that moved away from gendered narratives built around violent superheroes for boys and passive princesses for girls, and Les Mini Mondes pivoted toward age-adapted educational magazines built on that premise. The company's office, its in-house Boost creative studio, an illustrators' workshop, and its warehouse are based in Nantes, while physical manufacturing of its toys takes place in La Forêt-Fouesnant, keeping production within France. The brand's output today spans travel- and discovery-themed magazines for children, educational board games, and figurines and toy sets, all built around the founders' original goal of combining ecological, made-in-France manufacturing with content meant to inspire and educate rather than simply entertain. Les Mini Mondes was later acquired by the publishing group UHM, which has said it plans to expand the brand into podcasts and animated content alongside its existing print and toy lines.
