Bourrienne Paris X was founded in 2017 by Charles Beigbeder, an investor involved in restoring the Hôtel Bourrienne — a Directory-period building constructed in the late 1790s in Paris's 10th arrondissement — and designer Cécile Faucheur. The label sells a single category of product: men's and women's white shirts, offered in a limited range of around eight styles rather than a broad seasonal collection. Its designs draw on the wardrobe of the Incroyables, the flamboyantly dressed young men of Directory-era Paris who were known to frequent the Hôtel Bourrienne itself, translating details such as officer and French collars, pleated or minimalist bibs, and hand-prepared gathered sleeves into contemporary shirtmaking. Shirts are cut in two fits — an adjusted fit between straight and fitted, and a looser fit with a softer, longer shoulder line — and are made in France from organic Californian and Egyptian two-ply poplin cottons and Normandy linens. The brand operates from a street-level space built into the Hôtel Bourrienne, tying its retail presence directly to the historic building that gave it its name. Faucheur has compared the white shirt's role in the brand's wardrobe to that of a foundational, versatile piece rather than a seasonal trend item.
