What Bertrand is known for
Livraria Bertrand traces its founding to 1732, and Guinness World Records recognizes its Chiado shop, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, as the oldest continuously operating bookshop on record. Vaulted stone rooms lead back through the store, still stocked with Portuguese titles and used for readings and events.
