Los Angeles

📍 11018 Washington Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90232, United States

What Brave Star Selvage is known for

Los Angeles-area selvedge denim maker relaunched via Kickstarter in 2013 after a 2008 shutdown; sews jeans in-house at its factory-showroom in El Segundo, California, mostly from Japanese shuttle-loom denim with occasional deadstock Cone Mills fabric.

Brave Star Selvage launched in 2005 as one of the first brands built exclusively around Cone Mills' White Oak selvedge denim, positioning itself as an affordable alternative in a market then dominated by more elaborate, higher-priced denim labels. The original venture didn't survive the 2008 financial crisis, but the brand was reacquired in 2012 and relaunched through a Kickstarter campaign, with production restarting in May 2013. Since then, Brave Star has manufactured its jeans in-house in the Los Angeles area rather than outsourcing production. Its current factory and retail location is at 230 Richmond Street in El Segundo, California. Most of its denim today comes from Japanese shuttle-loom mills, supplemented occasionally by deadstock Cone Mills fabric.
