FRAME was founded in Los Angeles in 2012 by Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede, two Swedish-born entrepreneurs who met more than two decades earlier working at the design magazine Wallpaper in London. In 2003 the pair left to start their own agency, which grew into the multi-division Saturday Group. FRAME began as a narrower project: an attempt to design a single, ideal pair of skinny jeans. That jean, marketed as 'Le Skinny de Jeanne,' became the brand's breakout product and the foundation for a wider denim and ready-to-wear line. By 2022, press coverage put FRAME's annual sales at roughly $170 million.
