Calabrese

Naples

What Calabrese is known for

A Naples tie workshop opened in the 1920s by Eugenio Calabrese, who owned some 300 ties and became a style reference for friends; closed during WWII, revived after by son Francesco, and now led by fourth-generation Annalisa Calabrese.

Calabrese traces its origins to the 1920s, when Eugenio Calabrese, a Neapolitan with a personal wardrobe of more than three hundred ties, turned his passion for dressing well into a workshop producing handmade ties in the heart of Naples. He became a style reference for relatives, friends and acquaintances who sought his advice. The workshop closed during the Second World War, and after the war his son, Francesco Calabrese, revived the business. By the 1960s, ties bearing the F. Calabrese label had built a following across Europe and overseas, making the firm one of the longest-running tie manufacturers still operating in Europe. The business passed to the next generation under Gaetano Calabrese, and in 1991 to his daughter Annalisa Calabrese, who today runs the company as its fourth generation. In 2024, marking a century since Eugenio's original workshop, Calabrese 1924 presented a centenary capsule collection at Pitti Uomo 106 in Florence. The company continues to make its ties and sartorial accessories in Naples and sells through boutiques internationally.
