Campomaggi

Campomaggi was founded in 1986 by Marco Campomaggi, who grew up in the countryside around Teodorano in Emilia-Romagna and designed his first bags while still at school, drawing on a family background in sculpture through his father's work. The label is based in Cesena and built its identity on two signature techniques rather than seasonal fashion trends. First, garment dyeing: finished bags, not just the raw hides, go through a slow natural dyeing process that lets each piece take and react to color unevenly, so no two bags finish identically and the leather is left, in the brand's own description, freer to age and darken over use. Second, decorative studding: metal studs — varied in size and cast in shapes including stars and flowers — are used across collections as a structural design element rather than incidental hardware. The leather itself is sourced as 100% Italian cowhide, vegetable-dyed by tanneries in Tuscany before the garment-dyeing stage. The combination of raw, deliberately imperfect coloring and heavy stud detailing has become the house's recognizable signature across four decades of production.
