What Castello di Fonterutoli (Marchesi Mazzei) is known for
The Mazzei family has grown grapes and bottled wine at the hamlet of Fonterutoli, just south of Castellina, since 1435. A gravity-flow cellar dug into the hillside produces Sangiovese-based Chianti Classico, single-vineyard Gran Selezione labels such as Castello di Fonterutoli, and estate extra virgin olive oil.
