Catahoula Hotel

Catahoula Hotel occupies what its own site calls a "seductively renovated 1845 Creole townhouse" in New Orleans's Central Business District, a short walk from the French Quarter, with original windows and exposed brick left intact through the renovation. Its ground-floor courtyard space runs a dual identity built around Peruvian influence: in the morning it operates as a coffee bar, and from lunch onward it converts into a Pisco Bar, an homage to Peruvian cocktail culture, serving ceviches, sandwiches, and pisco-based cocktails both in the courtyard and on the sun-facing rooftop terrace above. A large mural of New Orleans burlesque performer Trixie Minx, painted by local artist Walker Babington, overlooks the courtyard space. The hotel positions itself explicitly against corporate chain hospitality, describing its approach as welcoming guests "as we would someone into our own home" rather than aiming for flash or exclusivity. The coffee-bar-by-day, pisco-bar-by-night structure is the specific, checkable distinguishing fact here — it is not simply a hotel with a coffee counter, but one space serving two stated identities keyed to time of day, wrapped inside a building with a dated 1845 origin.
