Cobbler Union

Cobbler Union was founded in 2014 by Daniel Porcelli, who grew up in Argentina and spent three years helping lead the expansion of a bespoke shoemaking studio in Barcelona before starting his own label. The brand sells exclusively direct-to-consumer, with no wholesale accounts, and every pair is made by artisans in a workshop in Almansa, Spain, a shoemaking region with roots in Cordoba's cordwainer tradition. Construction is Goodyear-welted throughout: according to the company, a single pair passes through roughly 200 to 220 separate operations and around 70 components, with 20 to 40 pairs of hands touching each shoe before it ships. Design details include a beveled waist borrowed from bespoke shoemaking, closed-channel stitching, a slim 5-6mm sole profile, and quilted heel cups. The welted construction means the shoes can be resoled rather than replaced. By selling direct to the customer instead of through retail markup, Cobbler Union positions its Goodyear-welted dress shoes near $400, a price bracket usually reserved for far simpler construction methods.
