Coffee Ni-Ro

Coffee Ni-Ro was founded in Košice in 2016 by a roaster who had already worked in coffee since 2002, including roles at major international coffee companies, before launching the business as a family venture. The name combines the first letters of his two daughters' names, Nikola and Romana. Barista Michal Křížka mentored him before the roastery opened, providing training the founder credits as foundational to the business. Coffee Ni-Ro works single-origin lots sourced with real specificity: Guatemala's Quiché (Joyabaj) and Hoja Blanca (El Diamante) regions, Sumatra's Asman lot, Colombia's Bruselas (Huila, Ortiz) and Valle del Cauca, Peru's San Martín (Moyobamba) and Amazonas (Aprocoyce), Ethiopia's Limu (Gera) and Yirgacheffe Grade 1 (Adado), and Brazil's Carmo de Minas (Irmãs Pereira) — all bagged in 250-gram batches. The founder describes the appeal of the work as running the full arc of the trade, from smelling green beans to operating the roaster and choosing packaging, and frames the business as built on service and guidance for customers rather than volume sales. Operating from Pekinská Street as a registered Slovak roasting company rather than a café chain, it sells primarily through its own online shop.
