What Comma is known for
German womenswear label founded 1973 in Düsseldorf, now part of the s.Oliver Group, producing twelve collections a year across three lines -- comma, comma casual identity and comma Designer's Choice.
Comma is a German womenswear fashion label that began in 1973 as a small, independently run business founded in a residential building in Düsseldorf, aimed at giving women versatile, feminine clothing for everyday and office wear. In 2002 the original comma company merged with Chaloc, a related label founded in 1993, to form comma Textilhandel GmbH; the brand has operated as a distinct company within the wider s.Oliver Group since 2009, after previously being a subsidiary of s.Oliver Bernd Freier GmbH & Co. KG. Comma releases twelve collections annually, produced across three sub-lines: the core comma range, comma casual identity for more relaxed everyday pieces, and comma Designer's Choice for occasion and statement dressing. In-house, the label is supported by a design team of around 20 people within a company of roughly 300 employees, with a workforce that is around 95% female. Comma is a signatory to Fair Wear, an independent organisation that audits garment supply chains for labour standards, and its collections are sold through comma's own stores, concessions and outlet locations across Germany as well as through comma-store.de and wholesale partners.
