What Cork Matters is known for
Porto concept store founded by designers Alzira Peixoto and Carlos Mendonca, opened October 2021 at Rua de Miguel Bombarda 285, selling Portuguese-made cork housewares - lamps, birdhouses, bathtubs and placemats.
Cork Matters is a Porto retail concept created by designers Alzira Peixoto and Carlos Mendonca under their design studio Simple Forms Design, which had already worked with cork for about 17 years before opening a dedicated storefront in October 2021 at Rua de Miguel Bombarda 285, in the city's Bombarda design quarter. The shop sells home objects made entirely from Portuguese cork and produced within Portugal, including table lamps, birdhouses, bathtubs and placemats. The founders' stated aim is to demonstrate cork's versatility beyond wine stoppers and flooring.
