Ermanno Scervino

Ermanno Scervino was founded in 2000 as a partnership between businessman Toni Scervino and designer Ermanno Daelli, who works under the label using only his own first and family name combined into 'Ermanno Scervino.' Daelli was born in Milan but raised in Florence; rather than training at a fashion school, he studied architecture and then learned garment-making by working directly under established Italian ateliers. The choice to headquarter the house in Florence was deliberate, built around the idea of 'Made in Florence' — pairing the city's tradition of hand embroidery and lace-making, documented in the region since the 1500s, with modern ready-to-wear and evening design. In 2007 the company moved into new, larger headquarters in Bagno a Ripoli, a town in the Chianti hills just outside central Florence historically associated with lace and trousseau production for European aristocratic households. The house's signature look pairs romantic lace inserts on dresses and gowns with structured leather outerwear and footwear, a juxtaposition of softness and severity that recurs across collections. The Florence flagship boutique sits on Via de' Tornabuoni, the city's principal luxury shopping street, separate from the production ateliers in Bagno a Ripoli/Grassina.
