Flatspot

Flatspot began in 1995 as a skate shop on Plymouth's Barbican, in South West England, founded around a small crew's enthusiasm for skateboarding. Three years later, in 1998, the shop opened its own skatepark, giving Plymouth's scene a dedicated place to ride rather than relying on street spots alone. During the 2000s the business relocated into Plymouth city centre, moving closer to the Civic Centre area as the local street-skating scene grew around it.

Three decades on, Flatspot has broadened from a pure skate shop into what it calls an adventure apparel retailer, selling footwear, technical outerwear and skateboard hardware alongside gear aimed at climbing, running and cycling. The shop states that it only carries brands it judges to share its commitments to quality and sustainability, and its in-house skate team still rides and travels under the Flatspot name, both around the South West and further afield.

The company operates as Digger Streetwear Limited and trades online as well as through its physical presence in the region, continuing to describe itself as an independent business three decades after opening on the Barbican.
